Larry Carter

Mr. Larry David Carter, age 73, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Larry was born April 19, 1948 in Surry County to Billy David Carter and Elsie Virginia Terry Carter.

Larry was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church, retired from Elkin Furniture, and employed with Elkin Funeral Service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He played softball for many years in the industrial league and enjoyed classic cars. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Mary Carter.

Survivors include: his loving wife Maxine Carter of the home; son Wayne Carter and his wife Billye of Elkin; daughters, Jaime Haynes and her husband Brad of Jonesville, Wendy Quesenberry and her husband Wayne of Dobson; brothers, Lanny Carter and his wife Debbie of Elkin, Terry Carter and his wife Malynda of Elkin; grandchildren, Samantha Carter, Alexa Carter, Jace Haynes, Jadyn Haynes, Madlyn Quesenberry, Dalton Quesenberry; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Elkin Funeral Service's Facebook page. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
