Larry Franklin Slawter

Mr. Larry Franklin Slawter, age 79, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at Pruitt Health in Elkin.  Mr. Slawter was born October 3, 1943 in Surry County to Gilbert Andrew and DeEtte Newman Slawter.

Larry was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and loved and was very proud of his family.  Larry enjoyed playing blue grass music, camping, fishing and riding in his jeep. He also custom built the fiddle his son Quinn has played for many years.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Pat Norman Slawter.

Survivors include:  his wife, Dianne Slawter of the home, a son, Quinn Slawter and wife Jennifer of State Road, four daughters, Karen Perkins and husband Sherman of Dobson, Sandy Williams and husband Chris of Jonesville, Kim Monteleone and husband Dee of State Road, Robin Freeman and husband Glenn of Elkin, two brothers, Rick Slawter of State Road, Steve Slawter and wife Darlene of State Road, three grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards and husband Gabriel Roten, Chris Monteleone, Logan Freeman and partner Eric Kline, and his special canine companion, Gracie.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 1pm with Rev. Chad Whitley and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until 1pm prior to the service at the church.
