Lawrence "Lc" Calvin Wood

Mr. Lawrence Calvin “LC” Wood, age 87, of Traphill, passed away at home on Monday, July 29, 2024.
LC was born in Wilkes County on February 22, 1937, to Joseph and Pheba Durham Wood.
Mr. Wood was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church and chose farming as his lifelong profession. He enjoyed his loving family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Poe Wood, sons, Richard Wood, Joey Wood and Markeal Wood, brothers, Henry Wood, Delos Wood, Roger Wood, sisters, Rosa Lee Hayes, Dorothy Brown, Ruth Wood, and a granddaughter Allison Wood. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication.
Survivors include sons Jerry Wood of Traphill, Marty Wood and wife Kelly of Traphill; daughters Phyllis Billings and husband Harvey of State Road, Janice Martin and husband Carl of Traphill, Ruby Sullivan and husband Barney of State Road, Rosa Letasz and husband Bob of Massachusetts; brothers Ranson Wood of Elkin, Bobby Wood and wife Faye of Traphill, David Wood and wife Kathy of Elkin, brother-in-law Ronnie Poe,  thirteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church, with Rev. Richard Caudle and Rev. Keith Wood officiating. Mr. Wood will lie in state from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Elkin Funeral Service on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
