Colonel Norman Patrick Walls, age 53, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Creedmoor, NC on June 5, 2021.
Colonel Walls is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, and his two beautiful girls, Piper and Perryn. He also leaves behind his mother, Shelba Walls, brother, Neil Walls and his Aunt Peggy. Outside of his immediate family, he leaves his father-in-law, David Smith (wife Margaret), mother-in-law, Kathleen Smith (husband Tony Novak), sister-in-law, Sarah Griesedieck (husband Nate) and brother-in-law Cpt. Will Smith (wife Catherine).
Norman was born March 11, 1968 in Elkin, NC to Robert and Shelba Walls. He received a Master of Arts in Intelligence Studies from the American Military University as well as many other degrees and certificates throughout his distinguished military career.
Colonel Walls served two tours in Iraq and was awarded the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star along with a myriad of awards, medals and honors. He was a brave and loyal soldier as well as a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed.
He was most proud of his membership in the 30 th Infantry Division Association. He served many roles in this wonderful organization, including President at one point. He leaves behind all his brothers and sisters in the organization as well. “Old Hickory!”
A viewing will take place at Elkin Funeral Service in Elkin, NC on June 19 from 5-7 pm. The funeral service will take place on June 20 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Elkin, NC at 2 pm with a graveside service immediately following at Little Elkin Church Cemetery in Ronda, NC.
