Luther Draughn

Mr. Luther Keith Draughn, age 64, of Elkin passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Draughn was born July 24, 1957 in Wilkes County to Clyde and Estaline Cockerham Draughn.

Luther was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and former Sunday school teacher. He retired from Pepsi after 33 years of service and enjoyed collecting Pepsi memorabilia. Luther was an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Boy Scouts God and Country award. He enjoyed, beach volley ball, golf, hiking, and was a huge Duke fan. Luther loved his family and friends.

Mr. Draughn was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 46 years, Diane Draughn of the home; furbaby, Bella; sisters, Janice Stanley and husband Danny of Roaring River, Zana Younger and husband Dale of Wilkesboro; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Cathy Collins of Wilkesboro; sister-in-law, Donna Collins of North Wilkesboro; nieces and nephews, Josh, Melissa, Jamie, Amanda, Travis, Holly, Morgan, Garrett; and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Wood and Rev. Keith Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Draughn will lie-in-state from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family requests that masks be worn by everyone that attends the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Life Center Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Dr., Elkin, NC 28621.
