Mabel Marie Turpin

Mrs. Mabel Marie Turpin, age 95, of Elkin, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin.

Mabel was born in Wilkes County on June 10. 1929 to Ammy and Jona Walsh Luffman.

Mrs. Turpin was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making furniture. She was the first female barber in Wilkes County’s history.

In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Jack Turpin and a brother, Ralph Luffman.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Turpin of Elkin, and a brother Dale Luffman and wife Evelyn of State Road.
