Magdalene "Maggie" Hampton

Mrs. Magdalene “Maggie” Burcham Hampton, age 89, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. Maggie was born November 24, 1929 in Yadkin County to Huston and Nancy Holcomb Burcham.

Maggie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired from Roses with 26 years of service. She worked at Lucia until her health declined.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Morrison; second husband, Eugene “Gene” Hampton; sister, Nonnie Casstevens; brother-in-law, Charles Casstevens; brother, Jack Lewis Burcham; sister-in-law, Caldonia Hunter Burcham; nephews, Charles Burcham and Daryl Burcham.

Survivors include: sister, Mary Rhyne and husband Jimmy; nieces, Annette Burcham, Pat Burcham, Becky Hampton and husband Grayson, Lynn Brown and husband Robbie; nephews, Donald Burcham and wife Linda, Frank Casstevens and wife Holly, and Gene Rhyne and wife Cindy.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jerry Fugate officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 633 Friendship Church Rd, Elkin, NC 28621.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the love, prayers, cards, calls, and visits during Maggie’s sickness. We appreciate the care that was given by all of the staff of Chatham Nursing and Mountain Valley Hospice. Thank you to Dr. Griffin for his long time care of Maggie. We love you all.
