Margaret Lois Nixon

Mrs. Margaret Lois Nixon, age 78, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Mrs. Nixon was born April 4, 1942 in Wake County to Lauless and Maggie Mae Bass Lewis. She was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was a lifelong public worker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Altman and brother, Harvey Lewis.

Survivors include: her husband of 25 years, Edwin R. Nixon of the home; sons, Michael Melton and his wife Nonalie of Concord and Shane Melton and his wife Angela of Raleigh; step daughter, Tina Marie Porter of N. Wilkesboro; brother, John Lewis of Georgia; sister, Magalene Hines of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jamie Barbour and her husband Derek, Cristopher Melton and his wife Alyssa, Bobby Chavis and his wife Samantha, David Hughes and Robert Hughes and great grandchild, Anberlyn Barbour.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tony L. White officiating.
