Marie B. Norman

Mrs. Marie B. Norman, age 95, of Elkin passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Norman was born August 4, 1925 in Surry County to John Wesley and Vestie Viola Pardue Layell.

Marie attended Charity United Methodist Church and Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness, and was owner of Browns Insurance agency. She was also a Notary Public and a member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by husbands; Bryce Brown and William “Bill” Day; brothers, Monroe Layell, Roby Layell, Frank Layell, J.W. Layell, and Zeno Layell; sister, Lola Hayes; and a grandson, Byron Lee Brown.

Survivors include: husband, Wesley Gray Norman of the home; son, Butch Brown of Elkin; daughter, Tonia Spicer and husband Larry of Elkin; step-son, Michael Gray Norman of Mooresville; grandchildren, Charles Michael Brown, Shannon Marie Layell, Melissa Caudill, David Alan Royal, and Bryce Jeremy Ward Jarvis.; step-grandchildren, Brooke Norman, and Todd Norman; 18 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bobby Norman and Bro. Donathan Layell officiating. Burial will follow in Charity United Methodist Church cemetery. Mrs. Norman will lie-in-state from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
