Martha Jean Martin

Mrs. Martha Jean Pearson Martin, age 80, of Ronda passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Martin was born March 7, 1942 in Wilkes County to Joseph Lawrence Pearson and Gladys Elizabeth Fortner Pearson.

Mrs. Martin was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church, graduate of Elkin High School Class of 1960, and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital X-Ray Technician School Class of 1962. She worked for Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital before moving to Hoots Memorial Hospital where she served as the Radiology Department Manager and later retired. Mrs. Martin was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great love for her family and friends. Mrs. Martin loved to paint especially adult coloring books with beautiful scriptures on them and love to gift them to family and friends. She enjoyed scrapbooking, ceramics, and was an avid reader. Mrs. Martin loved to read her Bible before going to bed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Everette Lee Pearson; sister, Patricia Ann Nance; and niece, Debbie Nance Bailey.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 59 years, James Roy Martin of the home; daughters, Beth Martin Wagoner and her husband Ken of Hamptonville, April Martin Davis and her husband Cass of Ronda; sister, Victoria Pearson Lent of Elkin; grandchildren, Jessica Wagoner, Kati Kelly and her husband Zach, Tristan Davis and his wife Chelsea; Brayden Davis; great-granddaughter, Carolina Kelly; loving brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Martin will lie-in-state Sunday from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
