Mary Wood Carter

Mrs. Mary Wood Carter, age 63, of Roaring River passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Carter was born March 30, 1957 in Wilkes County to John Albert and Hallie Brooks Wood.

Mrs. Carter graduated from East Wilkes High School in 1975 and worked for 17 years as a seat maker in the chair plant at American Drew.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: her husband of 26 years, Randy Lee Carter of the home; daughter, Julie Burnell and husband Michael of Roaring River; son, Donal Carter and wife Olivia of Elkin; sister, Eva Barker of Roaring River; grandchildren, Rylee Carter of Elkin, Blakely Carter of Elkin, and Austin Duncan of Nebraska.

Mrs. Carter will lie-in-state Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Johnson and Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating.
