Mary Lee Collins

Mrs. Mary Lee Collins, age 96, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Collins was born September 8, 1924 in Wilkes County to James Franklin and Avis Spencer Lyon.

Mrs. Collins retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Friends of Faith Sunday School Class. She also served on the Bereavement Committee for many years and was a talented pianist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Collins and sister, Lucy Collins Woodruff.

Survivors include: sons, James Collins and wife Brenda of Elkin, Jeff Collins and wife Debbie of Ronda; grandchildren, Kimberly Collins Bauguess and husband Mark, Brittany Collins Cook and husband Jason and  Sierra McKenzie Collins; great-grandchildren, Joshua Logan Bauguess, Madison Alise Bauguess and Weston Charles Cook.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 4G Fund or Cemetery Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
