Mary Ellyn Humiston

Mrs. Mary Ellyn Palmer Humiston, age 64, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at her residence. Mary Ellyn was born September 17, 1960 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Wallace Franklin Palmer, Jr. and Carolyn Lavonia Butterfield Palmer.

Mrs. Humiston was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church.

Mary Ellyn was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a degree in Physical Therapy, practicing for 32 years. She also worked with her husband Thomas, at Man’s Best Friend grooming and boarding animals.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Humiston; nephew, Jeremiah Palmer; mother-in-law, Mary Humiston and brother-in-law, James Humiston.

Survivors include: brothers, David Palmer and wife Sue and Kevin Palmer and wife Tania; sister, Susan Fuller and husband Robert; brothers-in-law, Craig Humiston and Ralph Humiston; sister-in-law, Cheryl Humiston, Patty Humiston and special niece, Sarah Palmer; several nieces and nephews; and special canine companion Raven.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church with Pastor Arlo Tysinger officiating. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown, Connecticut at a later date.

Special thanks to her special niece, Sarah Palmer, who has been with her day to day during this battle and to all of our friends and customers who have prayed and shown kindness over the last four in a half years.
