Lucille Holbrook Gambill, 89, of Elkin, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Pruitt Health.
Lucille was born May 25, 1934, in Wilkes County to John Herman and Bessie Royall Holbrook. She was a Center Baptist Church charter member and served as church secretary for 38 years. She was retired from Lucia and was known for her cooking and baking cakes. She also enjoyed spending time with the activity director, Courtney, at PruittHealth, doing puzzles with her best friend, Mabel, and coloring. She loved Gospel and Bluegrass Music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Anderson Gambill; a daughter, Debra Teresa Gambill Adams; an infant sister, Emma Jean Holbrook; and a brother, James Tyre Holbrook.
Lucille's love and care extended beyond her church and community to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Gregory, and husband, Dale of Thurmond; a son-in-law, Timmy Adams of Thurmond; brother, John Wiley Holbrook of Thurmond; grandchildren, Andrew Gregory and Monty Adams; great-grandchildren, Kendal Gregory, Rhiana Adams, Angel Arend, Kesta Moyer, and Tonya Seagraves; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them was immeasurable.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Center Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Rick Burcham officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Emily Norman over the Rehab Department, nurse Karen Holbrook, and other staff at PruittHealth and Rehabilitation. Their care, love, and support during this difficult time have been invaluable, and their dedication to Lucille's well-being is deeply appreciated.
