Maxine Carter

Mrs. Maxine Tompkins Carter, age 69, of Elkin passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville. Mrs. Carter was born August 21, 1952 in Alleghany County to Porter and Thelma Carrico Thompkins.

Mrs. Carter retired from Coca-Cola. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Carter.

Survivors include: daughters, Jaime Haynes and her husband Brad of Jonesville, Wendy Quesenberry and her husband Wayne of Dobson; son Wayne Carter and his wife Billye of Elkin; sisters, Marlene Williams and her husband Johnny of Sparta, Mildred Billings and her husband Jack of Sparta, Frances Rose of Kernersville, June Medley of Sparta; grandchildren, Jace Haynes, Jadyn Haynes, Madlyn Quesenberry, Dalton Quesenberry, Samantha Carter, Alexa Carter; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be conducted with Rev. Joe Souther officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
