Melissa Luffman Cheek

Mrs. Melissa Luffman Cheek, age 61 of Thurmond, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in Wilkes County to John Donie and Virginia Mae Wood Luffman.

Melissa was a vibrant soul who worked for PVH in Jonesville. Her love for gardening, flowers, antiques, thrifting, crafting, and jewelry was infectious. She found joy in her animals, Galax Fiddlers Convention, Bluegrass Music, and long rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway with loved ones. Melissa's love for her family was unwavering, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry Wayne Luffman.

Survivors include: her husband, Ricky Dale Cheek; son, David Andrew "Drew" Cheek of Ronda; daughter, Cindy Nonnenmann and David of Morganton; brother, Timothy Keith Luffman and wife Sue of Ronda; sisters, Judy Faye Nance and husband James of State Road, Della Luffman of Ronda and Crystal Luffman of Winston Salem; grandson, Corbin Key; Nieces and Nephews, Michael Nance, Amy Baker, Rick Nance, Lisa Cobler, Marilyn Oakes, Susan Marie Luffman, Ella Luffman, Keenan Luffman.

A visitation will be held at Elkin Funeral Service on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
