Melissa Simpson Creed

Mrs. Melissa Simpson Creed, age 42, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Creed was born July 23, 1978 in Surry County to Larry Dale and Debbie Blackburn Simpson.

Melissa was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church and a past member of Gid Branch Baptist Church. She was employed with Mountain Valley Hospice (SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin) and loved taking care of and comforting her patients. Melissa was the den leader of Cub Scout Pack 658.

Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jesse and Lou Ada Blackburn; mother-in-law, Martha Dillow; and paternal grandfather, Reggie Simpson.

Survivors include: her husband, James Creed of the home; son, Tyler Creed of Elkin; parents, Larry and Debbie Simpson of Elkin; paternal grandmother, Grace Simpson; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Seth Siceloff, Rev. Danny Royall, and Rev. James Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Gid Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
