Mercedes Nicole Wright

Mercedes Nicole Wright, age 31, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 31, 2023 at her residence in Jonesville.

Mercedes was born January 2, 1992 at Northern Surry Hospital in Mt. Airy to Pebbles Evans and Calvin Wright Jr. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Clingman. Mercedes was a 2010 graduate of Starmount High School and was an honor student throughout grade school and high school. She played all sports but, her favorite was basketball.

Most of all, Mercedes loved being with her friends and family, especially her beloved daughter and son. She was a loving mother, daughter and granddaughter. When she entered a room, her beautiful smile would light up the room and everyone in it. Beautiful inside and out, she will be missed tremendously and remain in our hearts forever. We love you, Sadie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jennie Baity King and James Akers Bowman.

Survivors include: daughter, Keyana Nevaeh Martin of Jonesville; son, Kamden Reid Wright of Jonesville; mother, Pebbles Evans and her husband Garry Evans of Jonesville; father, Calvin Wright, Jr. of Jonesville; brother, Houston Wright and John Johnson of Lewisville; grandparents, Shirley and Danny Lewis of Traphill and Joyce Ann Wright of the home, Calvin Wright, Sr.; special uncle, Randall Bowman, Sr. and his wife Carrie and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends, Shalonda Bryant of Hamptonville,  Jessica Shores of Yadkinville and Matthew Whitaker.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel.  Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Clingman. A meal for family and friends will follow the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
