Michael Joseph Heckel

Ret. Chief Petty Officer, Michael Joseph Heckel, age 64, of Roaring River passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at his home. Ret. CPO Heckel was born January 3, 1957 in Summit, NJ to Louis and Eleanor Clark Heckel.

Ret. CPO Heckel was a United States Navy veteran, having served in Iraq, and a member of West Elkin Baptist Church. He was employed with Lowe’s Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louis “Buddy” Heckel.

Survivors include: his wife, Amy Heckel of the home, sons, Thomas Heckel, Christopher Heckel; daughters, Caryn Fletcher of Washington State, Leigh-Anne Heckel of Elkin, Caitlyn Singletary and husband Tim of Wilkesboro; brother, Jimmy Heckel and wife Joann of Clemmons; sisters, Mary Alfano and husband Joe of New Jersey, Judy Davis of California; grandchildren, Jackson Hoffman, Sawyer Singletary, Andrew Heckel, and Shayne Richey.
