Miner Flynt

Mr. Stauber Miner Flynt, age 88, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a period of declining health.
Miner was born August 1, 1936, to Stauber Spainhour Flynt and Anna Low Miner Flynt.  After attending Elkin High School, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with. B.A. in history. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 -1961.  For nearly 41 years, he was a production and sales manager for the Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin, NC.  In 1973, he married Susan Norman, and they had 51 wonderful years together.

Miner was a faithful member of the Elkin Presbyterian Church, where he served as President of the Trustees, Deacon, and Elder. In addition, he was president of the Elkin Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club. An avid golfer, he could be found on the course at Cedarbrook Country Club several days a week. He enjoyed many golfing trips with his good friends. In his mid-life, he pursued a passion for bird hunting, leading to a lifetime membership in Ducks Unlimited. He had a true love for bluebirds and hummingbirds.  He found them truly captivating.
Miner is survived by his wife, Susan Flynt, niece Alyson Ripple McCall Duncan, great-nephew Alexander McCall, cousins Dot Bishop, Kent Wall, Lea Helsabeck, Dr. Johnny Arrowwood, Allison Watson, Susan Coker, and several other loving family members.

Miner will lie in state on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Arlo Tysinger and Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Elkin Presbyterian Church, 151 Hillcrest Drive, Elkin NC 28621, or charity of the donor's choice.
