Mitchell Lee Burchette

Mr. Mitchell Lee Burchette, age 66, of Thurmond passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at his home. Mr. Burchette was born January 1, 1953 in Surry County to Ray and Delaine Henley Burchette.

Mr. Burchette was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, retired from PVH, and worked for 22 years at Chatham Manufacturing. He was a past member of State Road Fire Department and First Responders and Mountain Park Rescue Squad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn McCann and special great nephew, Thomas Jones.

Survivors include: wife, Sharon Burchette of the home; daughters, Kelly Martin and husband Kevin of Dobson, Lisa Bowman of Elkin; sisters, Joan Walker and husband Roger of Chesterfield, VA, Sandra White and husband Bob of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Kasey Martin, Kaden Martin, Dakota Bowman, Kayla Bowman; two special little ones, Kali and Carter; brother-in-law, David McCann of Thurmond; and two fur babies, Bernie and Miss Wiggles.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Royal, Rev. John Attaway, and Rev. Dana Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Dylan Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Novant Oncology; Dr. Susan Hines and staff; and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital E.R. Department staff for their care.
