Olivia "Libby" Spann Tilley

Olivia "Libby" Spann Tilley, age 75, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home in Elkin. Libby was born May 26, 1948, in Surry County to Charlie Andrew and Veora Milan Spann.

Libby retired from Lucia; she went back to school to get her GED and her diploma in medical transcripts, then went to work for the Surry County Board of Elections and retired from there, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed spending time by the pool, shopping, cooking for her family, and spoiling her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: James Spann, Gary Spann, Gail Spane, and Dana Spann.

Survivors include her husband, William Larry Tilley, a son and daughter-in-law, Kye and Tracy Shore of Boonville; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Kenny Holbrook of State Road; grandchildren, Lauren and Evan Dudley, Courtney Holbrook, Chrissy Shore, William Shore, Taylor Norris, Lynn Brady, and Josh Hodges; great-grandchildren are Eleanor, Lincoln, Isaiah Dudley, Madelyn Fowler, and Abel Hodges. An exceptional friend, Susan Jarrell, is also left to honor Libby's memory.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Jeremy Simpson and Rev. Randy Quate officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 before the service. Interment will follow in Crestwood Memorial Garden on State Road.
