Mr. Ora Weldon Jessup, age 80, of Hamptonville, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at his residence. Weldon was born in Surry County on June 18, 1943, to Ora Wayne Jessup and Versie East Jessup. He was one of fourteen children.
Weldon retired from Pike Electric Company after 40 years of service and served in the United States Army.
He loved working out in the yard, racing, and his family and grandchildren.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Grady Clifton Jessup, James Junior Jessup, and Paul Jessup; and sisters Nina Mae Brewer, Shirly Ann Ryan, Ruth Faye Haynes, Janet Elaine Harris, and Mary Frankie Haynes.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Ann Anderson Jessup of the home, children: Tony and Crystal Haithcock of Sevierville, TN, Cindy Passmore of Winston-Salem, Sandra Rose of Hamptonville, Karen Tilley and fiancée Jeff Vogler of Winston-Salem, Donnie Jessup and wife Michelle of Roaring River, Ronnie Jessup and wife Tonya of Hamptonville, sisters; Anna Cannon of Rural Hall, Wanda Martin of Winston-Salem, Sue Jessup of Kernersville; brothers Charles Jessup and wife Darlene of Elizabeth City, Larry Jessup of Mt. Airy, grandchildren; Dylan Jessup, Joshua Jessup and wife Kindell, Olivia Jessup, Dalton Jessup, and wife Avery, Thomas Rose, Angela Simmerman, Jason Passmore, Zachary Jones; eleven great-grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Vogler and Rev. Tony Call officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service.
