Pearl Hayden Cox

Pearl Hayden Cox, age 78, of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her residence.

Pearl was born February 17th, 1945 in Smith County, Virginia to Roby and Vergie Harris Hayden.  Pearl retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was of the Pentecostal faith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Brady Cox, her sisters Minnie Griffey, Mabel Surber, Mandy Shelton, Margaret Olinger, Molly Terry, Rosie Griffey, Mary Sue Harris, Martha Lou Shelton and a brother, Marvin Hayden.

Survivors include, a son, Barry Cox and wife Dee of Elkin, two daughters, Patty Smith and husband David of Elkin, Chrissy Rhodes and husband Andy of Elkin; brothers Thomas Hayden of Chilhowie, VA, Charles Hayden and his wife Nancy of Marion, VA, Roby Hayden and his wife Doris of Saltville, VA; a sister Darcus Harris and husband Graham of Saltville, VA; Seven grandchildren, John Cox and his wife Chelsea, Amanda Bottoms and husband Ben, Matthew Cox and wife Lindsey, Stephen Smith, Aaron Smith and fiancée Faith, Katelyn Harris, and Chase Harris; great-grandchildren Abel Cox, Abby Cox, Eli Cox, Emma Cox, Christian Bottoms, Corbin Bottoms, Caroline Bottoms, Brady Cox, and Sophia Harris.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Matthew Cox and John Cox officiating.  Burial will follow at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
