Peggy Joyner Moody

Mrs. Peggy Joyner Moody, age 83, of State Road passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Moody was born January 26, 1937 to Robert Summerfield Joyner and Jessie Jester Joyner Hinshaw.

Mrs. Moody was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and retired teacher’s assistant and bus driver for Wilkes County Schools.

Survivors include: her husband Don Moody of the home; daughters, Joni Glover and husband Greg of Elkin, Toni Jones and friend Stan Southard of State Road, Donna Burris and husband Bryan of Whitsett; brother, Robert Joyner of Pleasant Gardens; grandchildren, Brittany Holbrook and husband Drew, Hillary Jones and friend Sheldon Eckrote, Kelby Phillips and friend Amber Huggins, Zachary Phillips; step-grandchildren, Adam Burris, Ethan Burris; grand-dog, Briggs; and special friends Johnny and Glenda Royall.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Cook, Rev. Joe Wood, and Rev. Robbie Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Moody will lie-in-state Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
