Penny Mauldin Wooten

Penny Wood Mauldin Wooten, 58, of State Road, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at her residence.
Penny was born November 30, 1965, to David and Betty Johnson Wood. She was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church. Penny enjoyed reading and cooking and loved spending time with her family. She loved the color pink and her dogs, Bella and Molly.
In addition to her second husband, Kenneth Ray Wooten, she was preceded in death by her mom, special uncle Rufus Johnson, and aunts and uncles Harvey and Irene Johnson, Mamie Johnson Mathis and husband Eb, and Mary Johnson Reece and husband Dale.
Survivors include sons Derek Mauldin and wife Sandy of West Virginia, Richie Mauldin and wife Amity of Oregon; the father of her children, Jeff Mauldin and wife Patricia of Roaring River; stepsons Adam Wooten and wife Melinda of Texas, Anthony Wooten of North Carolina; step-daughter, Aleana Gallihugh and husband Brandon of Mt. Olive; sister, Teresa Norman and husband Chris of State Road; half-sister, Tamela McGee of State Road; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mauldin, Dusty Mauldin, Lexie Faye Mauldin; step-grandchildren, Kristopher Wooten and wife Kristyn, Michael Millen, Natalie Wooten, Nathan Wooten, Larry Wooten, Emily Wooten, Brandon Gallihugh, Dixie Gallihugh; six great-grandchildren; boyfriend, David Pruitt and his children Matthew and Jonathan Pruitt, and several cousins and other family members.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Herman Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
