Raymond Curtis Childress Jr.

Raymond Curtis Childress Jr., age 67, of East Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Raymond was born in Delaware on August 14, 1956, to Raymond Curtis Sr. and Virginia Jenkins Childress.

Raymond, a man of many passions. He found solace in the outdoors, often seen kayaking down the Yadkin River, he adored his dog, Sassy Girl; his love for music was undeniable, with his guitar always within reach and his voice filling the air. He was also a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son Raymond Curtis Childress III of East Bend; daughter Ashley Marie Childress and fiancé Nikos Smith of Fayetteville; sisters Lois Spainhour and Sherry Childress, both of King, Debbie Cole of Delaware; grandchildren Aja Raiford, Leilani Smith, mother of his children, Tina Reeves of Jonesville.
