Robert Clay Combs

Mr. Robert Clay Combs, age 96, of Ronda passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Mr. Combs was born June 9, 1925 in Wilkes County to Jack and Mary Shore Combs.

Mr. Combs was a past member of Ronda Church of God where he served as choir director. He retired from the auto body industry and was an instructor at Wilkes Community College. Mr. Combs was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Lucille Combs; sons, Dale Combs and Danny Combs; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include: sons, Donald Combs, Michael Combs, Darrell Combs and his wife Carolyn; daughters, Brenda Bauguess and her husband Steven, Janice Combs, Glenda Narez and her husband Willie; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bobby Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Ronda Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests that masks be worn by everyone that attends the services.
