Robert Howard Wood

Mr. Robert Howard Wood, age 82, of Traphill, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Robert was born in Wilkes County on May 28, 1942, to George Washington Wood and Mary Ocea Rutter Wood.

Robert, a self-employed house painter, was a man of many passions. He enjoyed fishing, cooking delicious meals, watching Western movies, spending time with his dog Ozzy, and riding motorcycles. He always had the best stories to share with friends and family. But his role as a loving father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor truly defined him and left a lasting impact on those around him.

Robert was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Paul Wood and Von Wood and sisters Pearl Wood and Rosa Lee Wood Quidley.

Survivors include: daughters Robin Kennedy and husband Junior of Traphill, Joanna Bartley and husband Richard of State Road; son Robert Wood and wife Jane of Elkin; sister Ivadean Wood of Belhaven, NC; grandchildren Matthew Kennedy and wife Michelle, Charles Ferguson, and wife Aly, Mark Ferguson and wife Andrea, Kayla Paugh and husband Zach, Brooke Bartley, Lindsay Twilley and husband Shawn, Sarah Craddock, and husband Justin, Howie Wood and wife Holly, great-grandchildren; Christopher, Rachel, Rebekah, Cohen, Aeralyn, Harper, Eden, Gunner, Caroline, Walter, Lucy, Carter, Willow and Noah, canine companion Ozzy, also a special friend and love, Donna Osborne of Moravian Falls, NC.
