Rosa Lee Carlson

Mrs. Rosa Lee Eller Carlson, age 90, of Elkin passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  She was born May 14, 1930 in Wilkes County to Jacob and Mary Ider Spears Eller.

Mrs. Carlson was a loving stepmother, step-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a very gentle and kind person. She loved all animals, especially cats, dogs, birds, squirrels, and deer and enjoyed feeding the wildlife around her. Mrs. Carlson supported the care and rescue of animals through her charitable contributions.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid Carlson; sisters, Edith Church, Carolene Perkins, Zenna Faye Church, Birta Mae “Betty” Eller; brothers, Acie Lee Spears and Bryce Eller.

Survivors include: stepdaughter, Arvida Smithson and husband Bill of Burkeville, TX; sister, Gladys Myers of North Wilkesboro, brother, Wayne Eller; step-grandchildren, Angela Hall and husband Anthony, Jessica Anthis and husband Michael, Matthew Smithson and wife Lindsey; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members.

A graveside service will be conducted at Crestwood Memorial Gardens at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice; the residents of Elk Court; and special friends, Tommy and Claire for their support and care.
