Roy Ball

Mr. Roy Ball, age 82, of Traphill, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Health. Mr. Ball was born April 12, 1941 in Buchanan County, Virginia, to James Harvey Ball and Maxine Lowe Ball.

Mr. Ball was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proud of his service to his country. Following his retirement from Chrysler in 1999, he became a regular volunteer at Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry. Mr. Ball was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served in the men’s ministry. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ball was preceded in death by daughters, Susie Ball and Lisa Durham; brothers, Cleveland Ball and Ernest Ball; sisters, Nola Ball Comer and Harlas Rasnake; and grandson, Javier Jose “JJ” Fuentes.

Survivors include: sons, SFC Mark Ball and his wife Stephanie, Clayton Ball; sister, Myrtle Settle; grandchildren, Kirstie Ball Fuentes, SGT Cleveland Ball, Shaianne Nickerson Wolff, Mandi Mullins, Timothy Dolan, Christopher Jarvis; and great-granddaughter, Leyna Fuentes and several other great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
