Roy Wayne Southard

Roy Wayne Southard, age 66, of Elkin, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Mr. Southard was born in Surry County May 1, 1958 to Roy McDaniel and Jerry Carter Southard.

Wayne was a retired general contractor and owned Odd Jobs Ltd.  Wayne was a member of Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church and served on the board of directors of Mountain Park Fire Department for many years.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include, his wife, Karen Clendenen Southard of the home, a daughter, Rebecca LeeAnn Southard Mikles and husband Stephen of Elkin, his mother, Jerry Carter Southard of Elkin, a granddaughter, Lyllith Raevyn Mikles, a sister-in-law, Cathy Denise Clendenen, two brothers-in-law, Michael Edward Clendenen and wife Kim, Jeff Clendenen and wife Denise, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 2pm at Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Hensley, Rev. Ralph Groce and Rev. Charlie Kennedy officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
