Russell "Gene" Eugene Burchette

Mr. Russell Eugene "Gene" Burchette, age 82, of Hamptonville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born December 11, 1941, in Surry County to Russell and Lila Anders Burchette. He was the oldest of five children.
Gene was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a truck driver and farmer and excelled at both. He loved gardening and sharing his garden with others. He loved Gospel music, fishing, being with family and friends, and the Lord. Over the past weeks, his family has been by his side, showering him with love and care, sharing tears, laughter, and goodbyes, but above all, the assurance of salvation and the hope of a home in glory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Burchette Medley, brother, David Burchette, a sister, Josephine Norman.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Gilley Burchette; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra & Dwight Curry of Asheboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay & Kenneth Hayes, Mary Ann & Bryan Kovack; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Wanda Burchette; grandsons Justin Curry and wife Candace, Benjamin Curry and wife Holli, Cory Medley and wife Lorelei, granddaughter Dana Martinez and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Jazmyn Martinez, Alaythia Curry, Millie Curry, Jaxie Curry, Myleigh Medley, Madelee Medley, and Micah Whitley; and a great-great granddaughter is on the way, a symbol of hope and the continuation of Gene's legacy.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hamptonville, with Rev. Ricky Atkins and Rev. Justin Curry officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055, in memory of Gene.
