Ryan Bryce Gwyn

Ryan Bryce Gwyn, age 20, of Dobson, NC, went home to be with the Lord on May 20 ^th , 2019. Ryan was born March 20, 1999 in Mount Airy, to parents Russell Gwyn and Yvonne Tate Byrd. He was a Christian and a student of Wilkes County Schools, most recently attending East Wilkes High School where he was a junior varsity wrestler.

Ryan worked in manufacturing at Tampco, Inc. in Elkin, NC.  He loved spending time outdoors and with family, friends, and his girlfriend Taylor Chipman, who also passed away.  He enjoyed good food, interesting people, singing to the radio, fast cars, loud trucks, and fishing.  He was a generous person, selfless, and friends and family lovingly remember him for the light and laughter that he brought to everyone around him.

Left to cherish Ryan’s memory include his mother Yvonne Tate Byrd and stepfather Allen Lee Byrd Jr. of Elkin, NC;  father Russell Gwyn and stepmother Samantha Gwyn of Lexington, NC; four brothers,  Alex Gwyn of Blue Point, NY,  Aaron Gwyn of Germany, Samuel Neil Byrd of Grover Beach, CA, Joshua Byrd of Elkin, NC; three sisters, Natalie Gentry of Elkin, NC, Emma Gwyn of Germany, Jessica Dowell of North Wilkesboro, NC; maternal grandparents Brenda Haymore and Tim Haymore of Mount Airy, NC; and paternal grandparents Tammy Wilburn and Frankie Wilburn of Lexington, NC.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and close friends.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Elkin Funeral Service.  A “Celebration of Life” Service will be held on Saturday, May 25 ^th , 2019 at 2pm in the Chapel of the funeral home with brother Samuel Neil Byrd and friend Matthew Lee Farley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm prior to the service, at the funeral home. Committal and Interment will follow at Little Elkin Baptist Church Cemetery.  Flowers are accepted and appreciated.  Those wishing to make a memorial are asked to consider contributing to the GoFundMe account to assist the family with funeral expenses.
