Sharon Elaine Stonestreet

Sharon Elaine Stonestreet, age 76 of Jonesville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born May 12, 1943 in Surry County to Doyle Talmadge Stonestreet and Annie Marie Woodle Stonestreet.  Sharon was a member of East Elkin Full Gospel and a past member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She enjoyed outdoor gardening and volunteered with Mountain Valley Hospice Prayer Shawl Ministry, having knitted 349 prayer shawls for hospice patients.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include: son, James Hardin Burke and his wife Teresa of Mt. Airy; daughter, Vickie Lynn Burcham Ross of Jonesville; honorary daughters, Serena Childress Martin and Lisa Hamilton; special cousin, Alice Staples; grandchildren, Andrew Burke and his wife Ashley, Matthew Burke, Patrick Wagner and his wife Katelyn, Mercedes Smith, Ashhur Gibbs, Niehaimah Gibbs and Claire Burke; 12 great- grandchildren and 13 honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Due to the limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time, a private memorial service will be held at Elkin Funeral Service chapel with Dr. Charlie Kennedy officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
