Shirley Jenkins Combs

Mrs. Shirley Faye Jenkins Combs, age 79, of Roaring River passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkin.

Mrs. Combs was of the Baptist faith. She loved to work in her garden, cook and she crocheted for many people.  She was also an avid animal lover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Talmadge Combs and brothers, Leonard Filo Shumate, Ernest Eugene Jenkins and G.C. Jenkins.

Survivors include: daughter, Talana Faye Handy and husband Danny of Roaring River; grandchildren, Brooklyn Danielle Handy and Megan Nicole Handy; great granddaughter, Leia November Skye Butcher and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mountain Valley Hospice, Surry County Social Worker, Jenna Gray and the staff of Elkin Funeral Service for their care.
