Shirley Myers Sparks

Mrs. Shirley Myers Sparks, age 86, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Sparks was born October 1, 1936 in Wilkes County to Ernest P. Myers and Eugina York Myers. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church in Traphill, where she sang in the church choir. Mrs. Sparks moved from North Carolina and lived in Indiana and Alabama before returning home to live in North Carolina. While living in Indiana she worked for Indiana Knitwear for several years. She loved cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren

In addition n to her parents Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by a son, Marty Lee Sparks; brother, James Myers and sister, Ellen Hawkins.

Survivors include: her husband of 65 years, Roy Lee “Bud” Sparks of the home; sons, Paul Gregory Sparks and his wife Susan of Charlotte and Walter Shawn Sparks and his wife Tami of Elkin; daughter-in-law, Andrea Sparks of Wilkinson, Indiana; grandchildren, Amanda Gossage and her husband Joe, Andrew Sparks and his wife Hope, Amy Young and her husband Charlie, Brooke Marion Sparks, Clayton Sparks and Harrison Sparks and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Caudill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
