Sonny Hill

Mr. Earl Everett “Sonny” Hill, age 80, of Thurmond passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Sonny was born July 7, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to Norman Thomas and Mary Virginia Reuse Hill.  He was a retired electrician and was a member of Central Full Gospel Church.  Sonny was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Cuban Crisis.  He was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Palmer Hill and Norman Thomas Hill, Jr. and a grandson, Robert Anthony Bell, II.

Survivors include:  his wife, Gloria Hill of the home, four daughters, Dawn Hill and husband Steve Adkins of Avon Park, Fl., Barbara Bell and husband Robert of Salisbury, Angela McCoy and husband Michael of Riverdale Park, Md., Deandrea Hill of Salisbury, a brother, Johnny Hill of Crisfield, Md., Mary Virginia Thompson of Edinburgh, Va., Louise Phinney of Fort Edwards, NY., seven grandchildren, Alyse Eley, Amber Dumke, Keith Desmond, Bryan Adkins, Austin Bell, Cheyenne McCoy, Abilene Bell, four great grandchildren, Jude, Carson, Torin and Bayleigh.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Central Full Gospel Church with Pastor Bobby Norman officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Hospital, Woltz Hospice Home, Bobby and Sherry Hinson and their church family at Central Full Gospel Church for the love and care shown to Sonny and the family during his illness.  A very special thanks to Sonny’s Bud, Pastor Bobby.
