Sterlin Odell Swaim, Sr

Mr. Sterlin Odell Swaim, Sr., age 90, of Elkin passed away, Friday, June 28, 2019 at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mr. Swaim was born December 29, 1928 in Iredell County to Bonson and Mittie Salmon Swaim.

Mr. Swaim was a member of Shoaly Branch Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mathis Swaim; brothers, Harold Swaim, Homer Swaim, Alvin Swaim; and great-grandson, Gunnison Strait Swaim.

Survivors include: sons, Tony Swaim and wife Linda of Elkin, Danny Swaim and wife Diana of Hays, Buster Swaim and wife Diane of Elkin; sister, Frances Upright of Elkin; grandchildren, Anita Swaim of Sumpter, SC, Richie Swaim and wife Monica of Thurmond; great-grandchildren, Sterlin O. Swaim III, Riser Gray Swaim, and Montgomery Sky Swaim.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Blankley officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 472 Shoaley Branch Rd, Elkin, NC 28621.
