Steve Mckinney

Mr. Winifred Steve McKinney, age 68, of Elkin passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Steve was born April 16, 1953 in Wake County to Johnny and Elizabeth Honeycutt McKinney.

Steve was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and graduated from Wingate University. He was a long time employee of Brendle’s, where he worked as a buyer, and later worked for the Elkin Public Library and Best Western in Jonesville. Steve was a member of the Elkin Volunteer Fire Department and Elkin Masonic Lodge # 454.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron McKinney.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon B. McKinney of the home; brother, Craig McKinney and his wife Gina of Fuquay-Varina; mother-in-law, Joyce Bryant of Jonesville; sisters-in-law, Christine Talley and her husband Randy of Harmony, Sharon McKinney of Concord; nieces, Beth McKinney Hill and her husband Jason and their son, Oliver, Anne Talley and her husband Owen, Mary Talley, Sarah Kitts and her husband Austin; nephews, John Mckinney and his wife Gabrielle and their daughter, Tessa, Michael McKinney and his wife Charity and their daughter, Annabelle; great-niece, Arya Onderdonk; fur babies, Rudy, Barney, and Miss Kitty.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Tri County Christian Crisis Ministy, PO Box 511, Elkin, NC 28621.
