Swanson Lee Moncus

Mr. Swanson Lee Moncus, age 77, of State Road passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Moncus was born December 31, 1944 in Surry County to Howard and Martha Wagoner Moncus.

Mr. Moncus was a member of Billings Hill Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing. Mr. Moncus loved playing golf and watching Braves baseball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Shore Moncus; second wife, Geraldine “Jerry” Moncus; and stepson, Billy Shore.

Survivors include: his stepson, Thomas Pardue and his wife Linda of Elkin; stepdaughter, Annette DeCelle of Elkin; sisters, Lou Finney of Booneville, Linda Mitchell and her husband Ricky of Elkin; sisters-in-law, Betty McCaulley and her husband Bryan of Jonesville, Darlene St. John and her husband Ernest of Elkin; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Rex Walker and Rev. Claude Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
