Sybil Somers Thomasson

Mrs. Sybil Somers Thomasson, age 76, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at PruittHealth in Elkin.  Sybil was born September 6, 1946 in Wilkes County to John D.  Somers and Ollie Williams Somers.

Sybil was a 1964 graduate of East Wilkes High School and retired from CCB Bank.  She was an avid gardener and loved to cook for her family.  Sybil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Furches Thomasson; sister, Alene Johnson and brothers; Dean Somers and Dwight Somers.

Survivors include: son, Tracy Wayne Thomasson and wife Ginger of Hamptonville; daughter, Jill Thomasson and husband Ernie Key of Elkin; mother-in-law, Beatrice Thomasson of Hamptonville; sister, Retha Durham of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Jonathan Yarboro, Blake Thomasson (Sydni Dimmette), Brandon Thomasson (Evanne Stoll) and Brett Thomasson (Summer); great-granddaughter, Maddie Yarboro; one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Key officiating.
