Theron Taft Welborn

Mr. Theron Taft Welborn, age 53, of Jonesville passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 1, 2022 at his home. Theron was born August 14, 1968 in Surry County to Walter Taft Welborn and Joyce Viola Hemric Welborn.

Theron was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church and owner of Welborn Electric. He was a graduate of Starmount High School Class of 1987. Theron enjoyed weightlifting, traveling, going to Myrtle Beach, and was an avid football fan. He was a proud homeowner and took pride in his yard. Theron was a loving father, brother, and Poppy to his five grandchildren.

Theron was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his daughters, Emily Blackburn and her husband Ryan of State Road, Erin Hayes and her husband Jonathan of State Road; grandchildren, Tenley Hayes, Riley Blackburn, Teagan Hayes, Luke Blackburn, Zoe Blackburn; sisters, Regina Adkins of Jonesville, Joyce Wright and her husband Calvin of Jonesville, Cheryl Hutchens and her husband Joseph of Hamptonville; nephews, Matthew Whitaker, Andrew Hutchens and his wife Katlyn; niece, Destiny Potts; mother of his children, Janine Cooper; special friends, Donna Groce Hutchens, Glenda Gilliam, Gray Durham; and his Superflex family.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Harry Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery. Theron will lie-in-state Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Starmount High School, Attn: Football Program, 2516 Longtown Rd., Boonville, NC 27011.
