Thomas Golden

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Thomas Junior Golden, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 75. Thomas was born May 10, 1948 to Robey and Muriel Golden in Surry County.

He was an electrician for over 30 years, he took pride in his work and had a wide customer base who called on him whenever something was wrong. Thomas had a deep passion for motorcycles, or anything that would go fast. He loved hunting, especially at Carter Mountain and Saskatchewan, Canada. He also loved fishing at all the local ponds. He loved spending time with his family, his prized possession his lab, Gunner, and his friends, which all became part of the family. He could get down to some Conway Twitty or George Jones. His most favorite thing for the past few years has been taking Gunner on rides, especially up the river.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather “Shade” Golden, paternal grandmother, Bertha Golden, maternal grandfather Samuel Johnson, maternal grandmother, Dora Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Golden of the home; daughter Melissa Sewell and husband Aaron of State Road; granddaughter, Ashley Blevins and husband Eli of State Road; sister, Jennifer Swift and husband Mike of State Road; nephews, Adam Swift and wife Caity of Raleigh, Jacob Swift and wife Mary Kathryn of Winston Salem; two great nephews, Zach and Wyatt Swift; one great niece, Madeline Swift.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Brandon Davis and Mr. James Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.

The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.

The family would like to say a special thank you to everyone in the family who has helped care for Thomas as well as friends, Steve Hudspeth, Vernon Rinehart, Dickie Luffman, Tony and Susan Sewell.  Also a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice during the last bit of Thomas’ time with us.
