Tommy Cave

Mr. Don Thomas “Tommy” Cave, age 70, of State Road passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Tommy was born May 13, 1949 in Surry County to Grady and Martha Poteat Cave.

He was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church and retired maintenance worker from Elkin City Schools. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman, racing team owner and chief.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: wife, Sylvia A. Cave of the home; daughter, Karen Rasnick and husband Phillip of State Road; son, Marty Cave and wife Lacy of Statesville; sisters, Joyce Nance of State Road, Nora Cave Adams and husband William of State Road; grandchildren, Jaden Rasnick, Sarah Isaacs and husband Justin; great-grandchild, Jordan Isaacs; special nephews, Barney Sullivan and wife Ruby of State Road, Teddy Snow and wife Janet of Elkin, Jeff Snow of State Road, Jeff Reeves and wife Ellen of Elkin, David Jones of Galax, VA, Dennis Jones and wife Cynthia of Woodlawn, VA; special nieces, Lynn Stokes and husband Michael of Hamtponville, and Melissa Hughes and husband Greg of Asheville.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. William Adams, Rev. Jim Pritchard, and Rev. Jeff Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
