Turner Russell Transou

Mr. Turner Russell Transou, age 97, of Roaring River passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home. Mr. Transou was born March 27, 1925 in Surry County to Russell Transou and Jettie Carter Transou.

Mr. Transou was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church. He served his country during World War II as a corporal in the Air Force for three years. Mr. Transou received numerous medals for his efforts and this was one of his proudest achievements in life. When he returned home, he devoted his life to farming and his family. In his later years, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christa Lee Gentry Transou; brothers, Bob Transou and Frank Transou; and sister, Agnes Transou Hayes.

Survivors include: his daughter, Dana Transou Pardue (Wayne) of State Road; son, Rusty Transou (Mary) of Matthews; grandchildren, Ashley Pardue, Kristen Pardue (Lucas), William Transou, Jack Transou; great-grandchildren, Haiden, Ava, Salem; sister, Dorothy Byrant (Harold) of Jonesville; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will be conducted Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Bauguess officiating. Mr. Transou will lie-in-state Monday, July 4, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
