Velda Transou

Mrs. Velda Warren Transou, age 94, of Traphill passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Transou was born March 17, 1925 in Surry County to Henry Harrison and Nannie Shaver Warren.

Mrs. Transou was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Harold Transou; sisters, Hazel Royall, Opal Wall, Louise Billings, and Helen Poteat.

Survivors include: her son, Hal Warren Transou and wife Mary of State Road; daughters, Johna Transou Helms of Traphill, Nan Allison Transou of State Road; brothers, Holland Warren and wife Mary of Lynchburg, VA, Henry Warren and wife Frances of Clemmons; grandchildren, Chad Helms, Haley Terry and husband Zach, Tyler Transou and wife Anna Padgett Transou; great-grandchildren, Connor Helms, Reece Terry, Olivia Terry; and many special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. James Pardue officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
