Vera Shore Swaim

Mrs. Vera Shore Swaim, age 88, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Swaim was born August 20, 1933 in Wilkes County to Dana Shore and Minnie Ladd Shore.

Mrs. Swaim was a member of Benham Baptist Church. She enjoyed working on the family farm with her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Swaim; brother, Clyde Parks and his wife Flora; sisters, Lucille Gregory and her husband Carlis, Thelma Mitchell and her husband Elmer, Kathleen Somers, Faye Shore; and brother-in-law, Billy Joe Gregory.

Survivors include: her son, Jeffery Swaim and his wife Vicky of Elkin; daughter, Loretta Durham and her husband Randy of Elkin; twin sister, Eria Gregory of Reidsville; brother-in-law, Grady Somers of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Jason Eric Durham, Brandi Wilmoth and her husband Brian; great-grandchild; Aurora Marie Durham; special canine companion, Leah Marie; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Julius Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
