Verlie Burchette Hodge

Mrs. Verlie Burchette Hodge, age 93, of Elkin passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Hodge was born November 12, 1928 in Wilkes County to Charlie and Nettie Mickel Burchette.

Mrs. Hodge was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a long time employee of Sunbeam and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She and her husband were avid campers and members of the Ramblin Rebels # 17. Mrs. Hodge was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hodge; grandson, Matthew Hodge; brothers, J.B. Burchette, Howard Burchette, David Burchette, Baugie Burchette; sisters, Electa Collins and Luiza Burchette.

Survivors include: her sons, Jerry Hodge of Elkin, Lanny Hodge of Thurmond; brother, James Burchette and his wife Virginia of Clemmons; sisters, Flora Caudell of Cleveland, GA, Eva Davis of Lexington; grandchildren, Adam Hodge and his wife Holly, Shannon Hodge, Lana Hodge Lucas and her husband Scott; and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds and Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 593 Pleasant Hill Dr., Elkin, NC 28621.
