Violet Dorothea Jolley

Mrs. Violet Dorothea Jolley, age 92, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Jolley was born June 30, 1928 in Wilkes County to Erastus “Ras” Jones Durham and Dossie Wiles Durham.

Mrs. Jolley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an accomplished businesswoman, a principal in Jolley & Son Builders, Inc., and a licensed real estate agent. Violet earned her business acumen by her father’s side at an early age, helping him in various businesses from Elkin to Winston-Salem. She sold real estate in Winston-Salem for Hubbard Realty and later helped her husband, Osee, build some of the nicest homes in the area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Osee Franklin Jolley; daughter, Belinda Gay Talley; grandson, Matthew Jolley; sisters, Evelyn Welborn, Nella Mae Blackburn; and brother, Cody Durham.

Survivors include: her son, Frank Jolley and wife Sherry of Tobaccoville; daughter, Donna Guidara and husband Dave of Advance; brothers, E.J. Durham Jr. and Hayden Durham; sisters, Darlene Grit, Linda Durham Hawkins, Perdetha Transou, Mary Ann Durham, Patsy Ingle, Betty Jo Lovell; grandchildren, Theodore Poulos, John Talley, Samantha Siano, Nicholas Siano; and great-grandchild, Riley Poulos.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Durham Family Cemetery in Roaring River with Rev. Richard Odom officiating.
